HcA welcomes you to this event which we consider especially relevant to us, since we will have the opportunity to listen and learn about what science is currently achieving in regards of helping people suffering from Multiple Sclerosis slow down the degenerative process of their condition, and recover their autonomy to be able to have a better participation in society.
We know that developing better treatments requires large economical investments and highly qualified professionals, but overall, the support of our authorities and the scientific community. The problem of Multiple Sclerosis isn’t one that affects only the families, but a public issue. It is a situation that affects people’s rights and that requires that science, with its knowledge, puts itself in service of a better exercise of these rights.
We know that having a chronic, function limiting sickness, affects the life project of people who suffer from it as well as the lives of their families and loved ones, who will find themselves in need of providing additional care for them. In consequence, their opportunities for education, work, socializing and participation on politics and civic matters are negatively affected. Better diagnostics and more efficient treatments will be able to reduce the risk of exclusion and will open better opportunities.
Throughout history, science has played an important role in achieving solutions to the most difficult problems regarding Multiple Sclerosis research. We are aware of the fact that the challenge isn’t easy. The rareness of the disease and its complexity level makes it so that, perhaps, not enough resources are being allocated to its research and advancements are few and far apart. Despite this, we commend the advancements reached to this day and the strong dedication of our scientists and health industry professionals for always giving their all to find the best possibilities regarding treatment for Multiple Sclerosis.
We are grateful for having you with us today, for this most important week worldwide, in which we look to raise awareness of this condition, as it is necessary for the government and society itself to get involved in the search for solutions and inclusion for the affected.
We are sure that participation from our guests in this event will be a great opportunity to enrich our knowledge regarding the latest scientific advancements. Our fight will always be for more, but with an optimistic attitude and thankful for what we currently know; each of us, from within our roles and capabilities, giving our full commitment to construct a better today for people with Multiple Sclerosis.
Thank you for your presence today, to all the foundations, communities, health industry professionals. Your participation today is helping us reach more people and raise more awareness. Thanks to our authorities and government who are present today since without them we wouldn’t have the laws and policies which intend to ensure equal rights. We are a great number of people and we want to be more. We can all be part of this, sensitive, well informed and most of all, willing to help in this mission. We are sure that this event will be a stepping stone in achieving this. Thank you!
